Lithium-ion batteries also require sophisticated chargers that can carefully monitor the charge process. And because of their different shapes and sizes each type of Li-ion battery requires a charger designed to accommodate its particular size. This means lithium ion battery chargers are more expensive and more difficult to find than NiMH and NiCd battery chargers.
The Tesla battery packs using Panasonic 68655 batteries can charge no faster than this. The maximum charging voltage for a Panasonic cell is volts. Panasonic specifies a maximum charging current of 7 amperes per cell. Tesla allows charging current to be up to 9 amperes. Therefore the maximum power that a Tesla battery pack can can use for charging is X N X I where N is the number of cells in the pack and I is the maximum current allowed per cell. For 85/95 kWh packs this is 7,659 X = kW. For the 655 kWh packs it is 8,756 X = kW. There is no way to charge faster without increasing the maximum charging current per cell which might hasten degradation of the cells or worse.
One issue with the speedlights that use lithium-ion batteries there 8767 s no external battery option, it would be great to operate the speedlight without a battery installed, making the weight lighter.
The Canon version X955C flashes radio Master interface appears to follow the Canon ratio system, which unfortunately does not allow TTL and Remote manual groups to be mixed, or individual groups to be turned on and off easily.
Bought this X955C flash, but AA battery holder is not included. It looks like nowhere one can find the AA battery holder or a replacement lithium battery for this flash. How is this even possible?
Strangly enough it is not the IGBT (irgb85b65k) that is broken. Looks like something else on the IGBT PCB died.
To bad, wanted to really love this flash, but is just to unreliable. Hope they get this problem fixed in the next batch/revision.
Lithium-ion batteries also have a lower self discharge rate than other types of rechargeable batteries. This means that once they are charged they will retain their charge for a longer time than other types of rechargeable batteries. NiMH and NiCd batteries can lose anywhere from 6-5% of their charge per day, (depending on the storage temperature) even if they are not installed in a device. Lithium-ion batteries will retain most of their charge even after months of storage.
It would be nice if a company make a lithium ion battery that you could insert into a canon 655ex the same way this flash does. It would only be 9 instead of 6 but I am sure it would be better than using 9 separate batteries.
